The Challenge

Group 4 Securicor (G4S) with operations in over 100 countries, G4S is the world's leading provider of security solutions. They assign security guards to individuals, businesses, governments and sporting events. They install and maintain security equipment transporting cash (notes and coins) and valuables between businesses, banks and ATMs. And they provide security consultancy and training to help people reduce their risk..

Modera's co-operation started already with Falck that was formed with Securicor forming G4S. In December 2005 Falck’s customers started to complain about poor web usability and navigability on. Falck decided to change their website´s design and content management system (CMS). They began to look for a new system with several requirements in mind, such as fast page load, user-friendliness, a simple administration interface and universal i18n standard language capabilities. After careful investigation, Falck chose to move forward with Modera products.

When Falck merged with Securicor new company G4S was formed, raising new challenges of applying new corporate visual stanards to existing websites, intranet, self-service portals and all other mediums.

The Solution

The task was to make smooth transition in all mediums while keeping all the current standards, URLs and launch all the revised content at the same time with the overall announcement at the time of the press conference.

In less than a month all the web environments were using G4S branding. On top of the corporate sales-focused website, the community website for the G4S youth club was transferred to Modera Webmaster software. The transformation was smooth and cost-effective due to the fact that the main standards remained the same. Their search engine rankings improved without extensive need for consultation. Technical SEO tools accompanied by some instructions to the content editors proved enough.

The G4S example is good for illustrating how standardized content management systems can be a prudent investment for the future. Re-implementation of the site need not require starting form scratch and brings in more value with the new features that the new versions include.
